Module 3 Assignment

Hi! This is a poster format that I decided to use from the Adobe Illustrator app. I did this while I was incredibly sick and struggling to complete my weekly assignments but I think it adds a bit of character and struggle to the overall presentation of the poster. I rediscovered this dataset from a few days ago that I think was about education centers and public learning institution concentration across Florida. I thought it would be relevant because both of my parents are teachers and the debate on education is something important to the local and statewide government.

I chose to make travel the main point of this poster because of the inherent necessity of tourism to fund and support public infrastructure and the growing significance of developing school-aged individuals to better understand the world around them as it changes everyday.

Module # 2 Google Table, Tableau and Geographic map

This assignment was to explore data through geographic visualization. I used the dataset search available through Google and combed through dozens of sources that referenced and categorized data through state/city locations. I began by looking up sources that observed soil aridity and ecological phenomena. After finding limited resources that could make use of the map feature I moved on to other datasets that could directly relate to similar topics. It proved very difficult to find data that directly incorporated geographic data that could be recognized by Tableau. I am not familiar with this resource, and thus found it hard to specify and isolate datasets through the search engine despite my best attempts to find any that could identify variables for use in the software and create a map. Simply, I ended up just exploring the software through numerous datasets and finding different tools and uses for the application and what it could be used for when articulating data.

These are just a few of the dataset resources I chose to examine and pilfer through by means of the Tableau software. I was ultimately unsuccessful in creating a map; the qualifications that tableau needed made it quite hard to find data that met its requirements and I opted to present a similar graphic instead.

Each of these boxes represent a specific location (a city within a state) that had data reported on for their National Walkability Index. The concentration of each location is demonstrated through the size and color saturation of each individual block within the design. The locations are listed when the mouse hovers over the respective block, providing information on the index, location, and details about the number of instances.

Module 1: First Assignment

Hello Dr. Friedman! It's a pleasure to be taking another one of your classes! I'm excited to once again be under your purview for not one but two classes this semester.

For my first blog post, I am presenting a visual analysis that has caught my eye. I will present a graphic that I was shown on social media that I found to be conducted in a way that effectively illustrated a relationship and also reported on statistical insights on a topic. It's political in nature because of current events but it's one of the first things that I could pull out so I hope it isn't distasteful. It's a bit difficult to make out the details so I will link the website I found it from. https://www.jadaliyya.com/Details/27474

I consider this to be a well designed graphic for a multitude of reasons. The colors are representative and evocative and provide a practical distinction between the two subjects of the statistics. The images within add a professional appeal and link the numbers to the topic itself. The Inclusion of a pie chart and specialized graph aid in the illustration of the numbers and also the breakdown of the stats and how they are shared between the two entities, Overall, I would consider this visual analysis well done.

Final Project Visual Analytics

For this project, I will be utilizing statistical visualizations derived from the "USMacroB" dataset. Spanning from 1959 to ...
